“My name is Morgan Kowalchuk. I am a high school student and high-performance travel softball athlete. My journey with The Grind Performance began in 2024 with the Saskatoon Lazers softball team. Coach Zak had come to talk to my team about controlling the controllables, pre-game checklists and dealing with stressful situations. I liked the work that Coach Zak was doing with my team, so I started one-on-one sessions with him. When I started these sessions I was shy, timid, introverted, had very low confidence and was quiet. During my time with Coach Zak, my coaches noticed that I was coming out of my shell, I was beginning to see my potential, I began gaining confidence and I stopped comparing myself to my teammates. My whole game completely flipped. I was playing the best I have ever played, there was no more caring about what other people were thinking about me. I started playing for myself and that’s what was missing. When Coach Zak and I work together we teach each other, he doesn’t just sit there and lecture me about what I need to change. He takes time to understand what is going on and creates a specialized plan for my specific needs to help me on my mental game. One thing that Coach Zak constantly told me that flipped my mindset was “You are what you think about.” During my time with Coach Zak, I realized that everything you think about you become. Thoughts lead to actions, actions lead to behaviors, behaviors lead to lifestyles, lifestyle determines your destiny. So if you can control your mind, you can control your future. I would highly recommend The Grind Performance and Coach Zak to any athlete, whether you are a high-performance athlete, struggling with the mental side of your sport or just wanting to improve your game, The Grind Performance is the perfect place for you.”
